Fundamentals of Excavation, Trenching, and Pipe Safety
April 27, 2026 (Monday)
8:00 am - 10:00 am (2 hours)

This course provides system personnel with comprehensive instruction on safe and effective trenching and excavation practices. Participants will gain an understanding of proper shoring methods, including the selection and safe use of various types of shoring equipment.

Basic Fire Extinguisher Safety

This training introduces basic fire extinguisher safety for water and wastewater professionals. Participants will learn the fundamentals of fire behavior through the fire triangle, identify the different classes of fires (A, B, C, D, and K), and understand how to select the appropriate extinguisher for each situation. The session will also cover proper inspection and maintenance practices, OSHA requirements for portable fire extinguishers, and workplace fire safety planning.

Safety housekeeping of the well site will help prevent an accident to operators or employees working near or around the well/water source. Safety control around the well site is necessary to prevent contamination or pollution of the well/water source that could affect the health and safety of the consumer drinking water quality.

Different types of trench collapse mechanisms and their causes are presented to improve worker safety.

This eight-hour course provides students with an understanding of various Waste Stabilization Pond designs and the keys to their successful operation. *Water CEU: Attendees are not eligible to receive repeat Water CEUs with DOH for a class if they have taken the same class in the past.
