The HRWA is happy to announce our upcoming HRWA Training and Technical Conference and golf tournament set for May 23-26, 2023, at the Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. Our goal is to provide technical presentations for our water and wastewater communities, focusing on security and emergency response training, industry technologies, and equipment to maintain a sustainable utility. Through the conference programming, attendees have the opportunity to obtain a wealth of up-to-date information and learn about innovative approaches through technical sessions and tabletop exercises on a wide range of topics.
In addition to our technical sessions, attendees may participate in the Great American Water Taste Test competition during our meet and greet session or try their hands at the Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Competition. Or, if you want to work on your golf swing, join us on Friday, May 26, for our golf tournament. Funds raised from the golf tournament will help support our apprenticeship program.

Aloha Hawaii Small Water System Purveyors, Operators and Board Members, The Safe Drinking Water Branch (SDWB) is providing up to $20,000 of the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to support Small Water System registration for the 2023 HRWA Training & Technical Conference (Single Day or Two-Day Full Conference.) The conference will be held in-person at the King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel on the Big Island on May 24-25, 2023. The SDWB will support interested operators, board members, and managers from small water systems (not including Federal systems) on a first come, first served basis. The offer does not include the Meet & Greet event on the evening of May 24 or hotel accommodations. If interested, please submit the attached form to HRWA by April 20, 2023. Great American Water Taste Test
A panel of Distinguished Taste Testers will judge all water samples in a blind taste test based on Clarity, Taste and Oder. The winner will receive one free roundtrip ticket and hotel accommodations to Washington, DC, and be eligible to compete against other states in the National Rural Water Association Rally in Washington, DC in February 2024. This is a Nationally televised event and prizes will also be awarded to first and second runner -ups.
Backflow Tester Competition
HRWA acknowledges the special skills it takes to be a licensed BPA Tester and wants to honor that specialty with your very own competition. Join us during the Meet & Greet and show off your skills while having lots of fun!
