We are grateful to NRWA Executive Committee Member, Paul Fulgham, and Keynote speaker, Hawai'i County Mayor Mitch Roth, who emphasized the crucial role our water and wastewater operators play in our communities. Mahalo to all of our wonderful speakers, presenters and vendor hall exhibitors who helped make this conference a great opportunity for learning, growing, and of course lots of fun! We appreciate all of you who participated and attended the HRWA 2023 Training and Technical Conference which took place at the Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel on May 24th and 25th.
Congratulations to all our Competition Winners!
The Great American Water Taste Test
1st place: Gay & Robinson, Kaua'i
2nd place: Hawaiian Beaches Water System, Hawai'i
3rd place: Kalaupapa National Parks, Moloka'i
Gay & Robinson took home the Best Tasting Water in Hawaii award at the 2023 Hawaii Rural Water Association’s Annual Conference held in Kona, Hawai'i, on May 24, 2023.
A panel of Distinguished Taste Testers judged all water samples in a blind taste test based on Clarity, Taste, and Oder. Water samples were submitted by water utilities from around the state, all wanting to be recognized as providing the tastiest water in the state. Awards were presented to first runner-up Hawaiian Beaches Water System from Hawaii island and second runner-up Kalaupapa National Parks on Molokai.
Gay & Robinson will go on to represent Hawaii as they compete with other state winners from around the country in the national “Great American Water Taste Test” contest next year at The Rural Water Rally held annually in Washington, D.C., in February 2024. The Rural Water Rally is also an annual legislative event for the state affiliates of the National Rural Water Association.
