Ridge to Reefs and WAI would like to invite you to a follow-up event specifically geared toward homeowners who are researching different options for upgrading their cesspools, with a focus on nature-based systems. This Nature-Based Wastewater Treatment Workshop will be hosted at The Arc of Hilo on Friday, May 27 from 11:30am - 4:00pm.

The intention of this workshop is to provide local residents with information about nature-based systems for wastewater treatment, such that the community can be aware of their options for individual or community-wide Cesspool Conversion. We will talk through different nature-based systems, where they may be appropriate, how they are maintained and what they cost compared to other systems. We will also break into groups to brainstorm solutions to advance individual or community-wide cesspool conversion in the Kea'au/Puna area.

If you are interested in attending this event, please pre-register using the Eventbrite page. Puna/Kea'au residents can attend for free, and there will be lunch provided. Also attached is a flyer for your reference or sharing with your network. We look forward to seeing you on May 27th! In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions.

Hawaii Rural Water Association Partners with IronTech Security to Keep Members’ Data Safe from Cybercrime
IronTech Security to Provide Best-of-Breed Cybersecurity Solutions

Kamuela, HI. – Hawaii Rural Water Association has chosen IronTech Security to provide cybersecurity
services. As the number of ransomware attacks and hackers ranging from organized crime rings to
malcontents in or surrounding an organization continues to increase, cybercrime is expected to cost the
world in excess of $6 trillion annually by 2021.

“We realize that cybersecurity threats are a potentially expensive, invasive problem we face,” says Juanita
Reyher-Colon, Executive Director of Hawaii Rural Water Association. “By choosing IronTech Security as
our partner we are ensuring that our members’ data, as well as our own assets, will be safe from
cybercrime. After considering the choices available to us we felt the IronTech Security offering of best-ofbreed
cybersecurity solutions was the ideal fit for us.”

The process began with a security and risk assessment. Then, following the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework IronTech Security will support Hawaii Rural
Water Association with managed endpoint detection and response, an additional layer of managed
endpoint detection and response, password management, workstation backup and disaster recovery and
continuous cybersecurity training.

“Our pillars of success for protecting our clients’ data are identify, protect, detect, respond and recover,”
explains IronTech Security CEO Tom Kirkham. “For each of these we orchestrate best-of-breed practices
and are constantly seeking new and better solutions.”

Because employees are the leading cause of data breaches, a major focus on improving employee security
strength will help Hawaii Rural Water Association minimize the chance of data breaches. Training,
testing, and evaluation turns employees from the weakest security links, to the strongest frontline of
protection.

“We at Hawaii Rural Water Association understand that it’s critical, from the top down, for each of us to
be current on basic cybersecurity knowledge, threats, and risks,” continues Juanita Reyher-Colon.
“Cybercriminals are becoming more advanced every single day, leaving yearly training inadequate. Our
goal is to work with IronTech Security to prevent vulnerabilities within all of our systems. In a world
posing risk every day, this is the most important investment we can make for protection.”
