Why Apprenticeship?
The Hawai‘i Rural Water Association Apprenticeship Program eases the burden from retiring employees by facilitating the transfer of knowledge from experienced technicians to the new workforce. This program ensures our water systems will remain adequately staffed with knowledgeable, well-trained operators. It is designed to build a strong, local workforce pipeline by pairing structured classroom learning with on-the-job training under experienced operators. Over the course of the program, apprentices gain hands-on experience in system operations, maintenance, safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service; skills that are essential to keeping our communities’ drinking water safe and reliable.
The HRWA Apprenticeship program is registered through the Hawai‘i Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
Should you have any questions about the Apprenticeship Program, please contact us at [email protected] or (808) 315-8925.
